SOCIAL MEDIA + YOU

One day Social Media sites took over the Internet. I'm just doing my best to make sense of it all.

So I’ve had a little bit of time to play with the new iOS 5.

Many of it’s features, I love. Others, I’m not sure I will use often. Most notably for me is the Newsstand app.

In theory Newsstand sounds cool. But I can’t imagine using it on my iPhone, perhaps my iPad… but I have not yet bought into subscribing to newspapers and/or magazines via the app store yet.

So if you’re like me, and you aren’t sure you want Newsstand cluttering up your screen, you just assume you’ll throw it into a “News” folder right? … Wrong. Try to drag Newsstand into a folder. It’s not possible. What do you do now? The guys at Read Write Web have the answer.

  1. Put two apps that will go in your “news” folder next to each other, and put Newsstand right next to them.
  2. Drag the two normal apps together to create a folder
  3. Really, really quickly, while your normal apps are merging in the folder creation animation, grab Newsstand and drag it on there.

I must note. If you do in fact move your Newsstand app into a folder, you won’t be able to use the app while it’s in the folder. The app will crash as soon as you attempt to open it.

Do you like Newsstand, or do you plan to throw it in a folder?
